Exhibitions for 2010

Easter to mid-July
Kit Hill 6000 Years of History

Callington is often referred to as 'The Town Under the Hill', the hill being the very distinctive, conical Kit Hill, which is the feature for our exhibitions this year.

In a small area Kit Hill reveals over 6000 years of civilization, if you know where to look! Our exhibition aims to give you the knowledge to appreciate this historic site. From ancient burial barrows to a modern reserve where stonechats and linnets find a refuge, we try to cover as much of the story of this place as we can.

Mid-July to end of October
Kit Hill Stories & Memories

To try to cover every aspect of Kit Hill in one exhibition is not easy, especially as it has provided the content for several books and many, many, pages of text.

In the second half of the season some of the industrial history may give way to interesting little stories, such as that about the rodeos on the hill and the mineral water works that operated from a shed on the hill. There are other stories and other uses so come along and find out more - or contribute your memories.

All- Season Exhibitions

In addition to the above there will be four small exhibitions that will run for the season. There will be a rolling display of items and artefacts that people have kindly donated to the Centre. We will celebrate it being the 100th Anniversary of the Girl Guide movement with a small display We have a small display of collars which will bring recollections to many of the ladies and some of the gentlemen! although not everyones memories will go back to Victorian times. Finally there is a feature on quarrying on Kit Hill
