WHAT WE COLLECT
We are particularly interested in any items relating to Callington, but we are limited by the amount of storage space we have and cannot accept large items.
We collect:-
- Any local newspapers especially the periods 1972-1988 or earlier
- Any local newsletters, programmes, catalogues, tickets, small posters.
- Invoices, receipts, quotations, especially from extinct businesses and pre 1960.
- Sale catalogues.
- Old deeds or copies of these for properties in or around Callington
- Wills or copies of those for residents of Callington or adjacent parishes
- Indentures, and other similar documents.
Artefacts
We collect small artefacts especially if they have a Callington connection.
We are interested in any small domestic/commercial artefacts that can no longer be purchased. Recent acquisitions are antique combs, hat pins, vanity sets, eye glasses, coins, medals and gollywog badges!
If it is an item that you can no longer purchase it may be of interest to us. For example remember the wooden two tier pencil boxes with a sliding top? that is just one item we would be happy to receive.
Tools
We have a large blank wall above our research area and have decided to fix large tools to this, initially it would be agricultural tools and mining tools. Due to the height tools cannot be too small, and have to be reasonably flat such as a shovel, a pike, etc.
Please note that we cannot accept everything that is offered to us due to space restrictions and the fact that we might already have the same item in our collection. However we would very much appreciate being offered the opportunity to collect and preserve for posterity items such as those above.
